Bhaskar > Dancing Pilliar in his well-carved Mandapam. Pilliar/ Ganesha is the God people turn to when beginning any quest.

Bhaskar > Hey, where's the little kid? Flying around and settling down at the 'Aaru Padai veedu'? Showcasing 'Kailash' in the Himalayas' and the family of Shiva and Parvati. According to Hindu mythology, the younger son, Murugan/ Kumuran flew out of home and settled down at six different places due to supposed 'favoritism' shown by his parents Shiva and Parvati towards the elder son Ganesha.

Bhaskar > The 'Ganga' is supposed to originate from Lord Shiva's head.

Bhaskar > The arrangement of dolls called 'Golu' during 'Navratri' - meaning nine nights. The three Godesses, Durga/ Shakthi (power/ strength), Lakshmi (prosperity) and Saraswati (knowledge) are worshipped for three nights each. The dolls represent various aspects of Hindu mythology, folklore and lifestyles.

Bhaskar > The first two steps in any Golu. The three Goddesses are placed first, either as pictures or dolls, and diyas are lit. Sometimes, a pot filled with holy water (called 'Kumbha') is also placed alongside. The decorations on the places are called 'Kolam'/ 'Rangooli'

Bhaskar > The eight pot-bellied dolls represent the Chettiars. The Chettiairs were the money-lenders and the business men of the bygone days in South India. These dolls are called 'Tanjavur Thaliaati' since the heads are pictoed to keep shaking all the time!
